Introduction

We fell in love with Antigua while visiting in 2018 and instantly knew we wanted share this beautiful city with you. It is a place that reflects who we are, a playful, fiery and vibrant old soul. Here we will let everything come alive and we will do it all like for the first time. The best way to get your sense of wonder back, is to travel to new places. Both within and without and that is exactly what we will do. We will play, dance and move through our inner creative landscapes, as we explore the streets of Antigua and immerse ourselves in the artisan crafts. This is where they will meet and become one.

Area

Nestled in the lush hills of southern Guatemala, the small city of Antigua founded in the early 16th century, served as Guatemala’s capital for almost 300 years. Unesco designated Antigua a World Heritage Site in 1979, ensuring the protection of its architectural and cultural legacy. Antigua’s idyllic cobblestone streets and low-slung buildings painted in a rainbow of colors is the perfect setting for our explorative journey. Crumbling ruins dot the corners of the city’s small blocks at regular interval. Vibrantly patterned traditional textiles, made using natural dyeing techniques embellish the street shops and bustling open-air markets across the city.

The city’s 16th century easy-to-navigate renaissance grid pattern, baroque-style monumental buildings and ruins have survived along with plazas with fountains and domestic architecture. With views of Volcan de Agua to the south and the twin peaks of Volcan de Fuego and Acatenango to the west, farm-to-table restaurants, art galleries and design studios – Antigua is one of the most enticing cities in Central America.

Venue

Our accommodation is a colonial style home with two beautiful courtyards located in the heart of Antigua, Guatemala. The house has some really cool unique features that you are going to love about spending time there!

The house was originally a charming little hotel and is set out as such with beautifully decorated private rooms and open communal areas. The two beautiful courtyards are just perfect for sunny afternoons, with draping greenery, hammocks and little corners to relax in. We also have access to a gorgeous rooftop terrace that wraps around the home, where you can enjoy great views of the volcanos.

About Us

We are Amanda & Antonia and together we become Shifting Sands.

We have always been wanderers at heart, travelling to new places and finding home wherever we are. Being in movement, both within and without, is where we feel most at peace. Roaming around the world and exploring, as well as travelling deeper within ourselves. Uncovering layers, turning over rocks and riding waves. We work with moving energy, through the artform of yoga, reiki healing, intuitive guidance through tarot readings, myofascial release and massage.  We want to give you the opportunity to explore new ways of being and living. Together we will discover new ways to explore ourselves and the outside world.

Yoga is our lifestyle – let us share it with you.
